Excellent Cue AND Service
By Jim from Rural Hall, NC on February 1, 2013

First I'm a long ways from a pro. Consider myself above average league level player with ~ 20 years experience who shoots mostly at home several games/practice sessions daily. My incentive for a new stick was primarily a slightly turned down shaft and better ball control with a softer multilayered tip. McDermott is pretty much universally recognized as having high quality control measures and manufacturing one of the best value/performance cues available. After shooting several games with my son's McDermott finally decided this was the cue I wanted. The G-Core shaft performs as advertised and even with the 12.5 mm turn down exhibits almost no deflection unless I impart ridiculous amounts of spin with high velocity. Even then no more than 1" over a full table (8') length. The Mauri SS Black tip (additional cost upgrade) is an absolute delight. Balance of the stick seems even and the Cocobolo butt and sleeve are beautiful.
As always Ozone shipped quickly and order was out the door the door 2 days after placement even with the shaft turn down from standard 13 to 12.5 mm done in house. YOU NEED TO KNOW however that if you have Ozone turn down your shaft, they apparently do not refinish the shaft to manufacturer urethane coating after turndown. In my case this is not relevant as I routinely use 0000 steel wool to reduce the amount of urethane on my cue shafts to reduce friction. If this is a problem for you suggest going to McDermott directly for your cue. Of course it will cost more and you don't get all the free upgrades that make Ozone my #1 choice for all my billiard needs.
