9 ball templates ok 8 ball templates not so much
By Richard Carlson from Honolulu, Hawaii on December 11, 2012
I ordered 2 sets. Both 9 ball templates are ok. In both 8 ball templates, balls in the 5th row do not touch balls in the 4th row.

9 on the snap
By Nayef from , on December 10, 2012
This product takes out the effort, and possible error, of having a loose rack. It is great, and assures a perfect rack every time; i love it. The only downside to it is that you are unable to carry it in your case i.e. fold it, because that would probably damage the rack or the way it sits on the table. If they can come up with a way to make it easily mobile, then the package would be complete.

Perfect!
By Stanley from Norcross, GA on November 30, 2012
After struggling with several wooden eight and nine ball racks, I purchased a set of these. Absolutely perfect rack every time! You would think it is slower to use these versus a conventional rack, but not the case. Conventional racks take a lot more time jockying balls around trying to get them tight. Additionally, these racks will provide perfect tightness even when the table has small amounts of chalk and other debri present, something that is not possible with a conventional rack. Awesome, I'm a lifetime customer starting now!

Works Wonders!
By Kevin from Stockton, California on October 8, 2012
As advertised, this rack really does work. All the balls are touching and the rack is always tight! only downside is that the rack is disposable, which only lasts 4-6 months.

Love it!
By Kyle from , on October 6, 2012
It takes a little while to get used to racking but after awhile becomes easy. I will order this again when I wear my magic ball rack out. I recommend this item.

great stuff
By eddy bourjolly from brooklyn, N.Y. on September 27, 2012
I am very pleased with the Magic Ball Rack Set- I find myself pocketing balls on the break now more often than before- now that the balls are racked much tighter I am more confident with my break- the only problem is that the 8 ball rack has a slight bent at one of the angles which probably occured during packaging or shipping but it's not that serious-

waste off money
By Erick m from marysville, wa on September 15, 2012
It worked alright, sometimes it would rack tight, other times i coulnt get one of the balls to align no matter what. Three days into it the 8 ball triangle bent on one side and now its not laying flat. It costs too much to send back so ill take it as a lesson learned. s&h was expensive i thought for a letter size envelope. $8.

Used over 250 times now
By Skippy from St. Louis on August 6, 2012
I purchased this to use at a bar I play casual and league 8 ball at because of the wear on the table and the frustration with trying to get a good rack after seeing it used on ESPN during professional matches.

I waited until I used it 250 times before reviewing and I can say this is the best rack ever. It does take a little getting use to, but after I have racked with it many times I can say that it certainly saves time over the usual system because you dont have to keep trying to get the balls tight and no one needs to "tap" balls which causes further damage to the felt.

Some people are hesitant to use it, but if they are playing me and I am racking then it is used in every casual game. League games I ask and I am yet to be turned down and they always like it. I even challenge them to find 2 balls that arent tight. Some try, but never do. Besides if professional players (ones that make lots of money playing pool) have no issue using it, then whom am I to say my play is more particular or precise than theirs?

After much use I have found the best way to rack it is like this: 1 ball, then the next 2, after that put the 8 ball in place and rack the 2 outside it. Then the 2 middle followed by 2 ends. Then work you way from left corner to the right corner on the final row. I am OCD so I rack by # and color order with the 7/15 always in the middle and the 1/9/14 always the top 3. If your first 6 balls are not in place right, it complicates the rack but it is still very easy.

Rarely is a ball left on the rack because of a poor break and rarely does a ball end up getting interfered with by rolling over it. Never have I seen it do it in a way that is detrimental to the spread of balls. If one or 2 are on it after all balls stop, lifting just enough to remove it is all that is needed.

The bar I play at, is getting these for all their tables and requiring them after they get re-felted here soon if that tells you anything.

Great product
By TJ from Nashua on August 5, 2012
The 9-ball rack is perfect every time. The 8-ball rack is great but you have to have it set one way in order for it to be perfect every time.

Can't beleive the simplicity and ingenuity, great tight rack, now i see why the pro tours are using it instead of the accu-rack. "perfect" tight rack every time !!!!

Perfect Racks
By Jason from New Hampshire on July 16, 2012
Taking the extra five seconds to rack with the magic rack is worth it. You'll get the best spreads possible even if you don't have a monster break.

Some people say pool should be played with an imperfect rack but I say this is the next step in billiard evolution.

Tiiiiiiight!
By joseph from brookhaven, NY on July 3, 2012
WOW! If you want a tight rack then this is for you. I was skeptical at first about how tight a hand rack could be, or if the balls rolling over it would be a problem, but after using it for a while I can't believe how nice it is. Takes 5 minutes or so to get used to but once you do you get a great rack every time.

magic rack
By Barry from Latrobe,Pa on May 14, 2012
They rack the same every time. The ball lines behind the rack are a thing of the past so that makes less mess and wear on the table. Only takes about the same time to rack and I'm not seeing the whole developing at the spot from the head ball being driven into the table. Overall I think its great and we play for three to six hours a day on the table.

Magic rack break percentage
By Dave from Knoxville, Tenn. on May 10, 2012
We have been using the magic 9 ball rack for about 5 months now. I bought one for my son for Christmas and he liked it when using it on his table.
I then purchased a couple for myself and my ball on break percentage went up to 80 to 90% in 9 ball. This was from about 40 to 50% in the past with a Sardo rack where all the balls looked tight.
The 8 ball rack is definetly not as good. This is why I only gave a 4 star rating. The 9 ball rack is definetly a FIVE star product. There are several balls that will not get tight in the 8 ball rack and there was no increase in break percentage vs a Sardo rack.
Vs the regular wooden rack both 8 & 9 ball racks are superior with the 9 ball rack standing head and sholders above that.
Note in the picture of the 8 ball rack the small gap between the 14 and 8 balls.
This occurs in about 4 places when they are racked, always in the same places, and there is nothing you can do about it.
The 9 ball rack is totally frozen together and the balls explode when they are hit properly.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Good product
By Guff from Iowa on May 8, 2012
It takes a little getting used to but the rack is extremely tight. Gave four stars for learning curve on racking with it.

Perfect rack every time with no wear and tear on the felt.
By JM from Rochester, NY on February 16, 2012
After covering our table with new felt, we didn't want to be rubbing a rack over it. This was the perfect solution. Take it with when you play on used tables, it doesn't matter... a perfect rack every time.

Tight Rack for 9 Ball
By Jon M from Southbridge MA on February 15, 2012
We started to use these in our league and the amount of better racks and less asking the drunk people to re-rack because they can barely walk is awesome (we are allowed to rack our own as well in our league). 15 Second setup is pretty good time once you get use to it and in nine ball honestly if you have a good break 95% of the time there is no ball left on the rack, anyone who complains either has a problem breaking solidly or is drinking while playing pool (not that its a bad thing just try racking sober once and see the difference).

My second set of these...
By Paul from Henderson, NV on January 11, 2012
I ordered these as a backup to the originals. Admittedly, they took some getting used to at first, but the adjustment was quick and I wouldn't want to use any other rack. They are great!!

Review what headline? I never understood this question.
By Norman from Glen Burnie, MD on December 27, 2011
Don't waste your time or money. You have to be very careful with this thin plastic rack. It is not easy to use. It certainly takes several racks to get use to. I have racked them with a space between the balls and had to rerack. The trick is to put the second and third ball on the rack to hold it in place, put the head ball in place and then rack the rest of the balls if you want to try it. Be very careful with storage and handling. I just had to try it out of curiosity.

Magic Ball Rack - 8 Ball and 9/10 Ball Rack Set
By Charles from , on December 5, 2011
Was quite disappointed the first and only time I tried these racks - Not because of any fault with the racks - but because the balls available at the Senior Center where I play are apparently neither the correct size nor even the same size. Am prepared to purchase new set of balls today. (From Ozone billiards of course.)

almost perfect
By Ron from New Jersey on November 17, 2011
The rack does work if...........all the balls are the same size. The claim that the rack does not interfere with the movement of the balls does not hold up in practice. Slow rolling balls are definitely affected. Other than that and the fact that it takes a bit longer to rack over a traditional triangle it is still a good idea.

Perfect rack every time

Nice but odd ball movement
By Ryan from Dallas on October 25, 2011
I plan to use this in the pool hall so that my opponent must provide a tight rack. At home I found that the balls roll unpredictably when they roll over it. You are supposed to remove it after the break, if possible, but they are times when moving the rack will interfere with balls on the table. I recommend removing the rack and replacing the balls, but obviously this could cause issues in money games.

Excellent product, just difficult to carry in a cue case.

Not for me
By Matt from Poolville, TX on October 15, 2011
One of the biggest problems with this is on my very first break it came up off the table and interfered the ball travel. The other problem is it is time consuming to rack the balls. I don't know how they come up with 15 secs but it required some finesse to get all the balls in the right place.

Slow to set up
By Christopher from Marietta, GA on October 10, 2011
They do work as advertised. However if you are playing many games back to back with friends, they take way too long to set up. They do hold the balls in a very tight rack and I didnt have any issues with them slowing the play of balls after the break. Only a few times that a ball would come to rest on top of them after the break. Where you would have to wait for a few shots to move them.

Tight? Damn Right!
By Mike Steffen from Marshalltown, IA on September 14, 2011
Just got one of these and I must say I am IMPRESSED. Every ball in the rack is touching its adjacent partner every time you rack. Every rack is consistently tight. It is amazing. The plastic is so thin that there is very little interference when balls cross over its surface. Myself, I remove the Magic Rack as soon after the break as I can. A minimal investment with big returns. Get one!

I would recommend this item to a friend.
