Cleans and prepares tops of ferrules for new tips, and then trims, shapes and burnishes tips. Adjusts to any thickness of tip with a control button for trimming. Shaves side of tip even with ferrule and shapes to a perfect nickel radius. The file-hard steel blade allows hundreds of trimmings before it needs to be resharpened. Extra blade included.

big shaver disappointment
February 3, 2014
purchased this to trim new 13mm tip down to 12.75 mm. Very disappointed and hard to shave down tip.Ended up using a file to size needed.Even trying to shave very little at a time, shaft slot must be made for a 14mm minimum giving you a lot of slop to try to shave .

Not the precision you expect for $100

Trimmer is sloppy & difficult to use. Had to trim by hand w/razor blade first. Shaper is average at best.

Too Expensive

Not worth the money if you have any access to a sander of any kind.

It's Awesome
January 15, 2012
I got this as a gift many Xmas's ago. It does a fantastic job of cutting down the tip to fit on top of my 314 shaft (which has a very small tip surface...) It does take a while to shave down, but it's as easy as using a pencil sharpener. I don't know how the reviewer below managed to "ruin his stick", but I'm guessing the didn't RTFM. The only mistake I've ever made with this puppy is attempting to burnish the tip before the glue had cured completely. Snapped the tip right off, and got it stuck inside of the burnisher. Oh well, lesson learned.

Joe Porper Big Shaver

The Joe Porper Big Shaver is a must have if you like to change your own tips. I use a predator Z-2 shaft on one of my cues and McDermott i-3 shafts on two others. With an 11.75 mm. tip size required, and most tips coming in 13 or 14 mm. sizes, you have to trim quite a bit off of the tip, and The Joe Porper Big Shaver does an excellent job for a very good price. Purchase an extra blade along with the shaver and you're good to go for quite a while.

Joe Porper’s Big Shaver Precision Pool Cue Tip Tool ~ Excellent
July 8, 2011
This is a Creative Inventions multi-purpose professional pool cue tip tool that prepares the ferrule’s top, and trims, shapes and burnishes tips. It cuts the tip’s cylindrical side even with the ferrule and shapes the tip to a perfect nickel radius for a foolproof job. It even includes an extra cutting blade good for hundreds of trimmings. The tool is an easy to use professional machining fixture and works great without any damage to the cue shaft, ferrule or tip.

unless you are not careful and if you never did this before it is very easy to ruin your cue stick. its good for someone who knows what they are doing.better off letting a profesional do it.

Good tool, but...
October 19, 2008
I\'ve been playing pool for many years. Therefore, I\'ve replaced many tips. I was first introduced to this \"cube\" at my pool club in Germany. However, using the blade to trim your tip can be tricky! I\'ve replaced only 8 (Triangle - 13 mm medium hard) tips so far and the blade is dull and uneven. Therefore, no more clean cuts! In addition, I\'ve used the blade on my Predator Z-Shaft to cut a 12 mm Triangle tip down to 11.75 mm and it ruined my ferulle, due to the soft material used for the ferulle and the mechanics used to afix the shaft for cutting. It does come with an replacement blade, which I used to replace my Jump/Break cue\'s tip with a \"White Diamond\". Although it was a new blade, the cut was uneven and the blade was uneven and worn thereafter. In Summary: The blade is difficult to use and it is much too soft. There are other less expensive tools that can do the job (including a large pencil sharpener, for pennies!).

Great Tool...

If you don\'t have a lath, this is the only tool I have found that will trim down the large replacement tips to your cue size. I have a whole drawer full of other products that just won\'t do the job. This product does it all.
